Je lis, je lis, littératie!
Je lis, je lis, littératie! is an online site with books for independent reading. It also provides French audio support!
Here is a suggested activity to try when reading :
- To access your account sign in using the Student Login : https://jelis-free.rkpublishing.com/student
- Once logged on you will be taken to the Dashboard
- The Show Help button will provide you will further instruction on how to navigate the site
Here is a suggested activity to try when reading :
- Choose the book you want to read
- Before you get started, read the title and glance through all the pictures in the book. Who will be in the story? Where will it take place? What do you think the problem will be? What might the solution be?
- Use the arrow buttons to go back to the beginning of the book.
- Now it’s time to read! Do it first without using the audio button.
- Read the page of the book you see on the screen. Once you’ve read it by yourself, click on the audio button. Listen carefully. Is that how you read the words?
- If you stumble upon a tricky word, try to read it the best you can. Does it make sense? Does it look right? Does it sound right?
- Now check and see if you DID read it right! Click on the tricky word and then click the audio button. The word will be read to you.
- When you have read the book yourself, and listened to it being read to you, you can go back and reread a favourite page.
- There is a button on the last page which says “Click if you have finished reading.” Click this to show that you have completed this book. To return to the Dashboard click the Dashboard button at the top right hand side of your screen.
Hand Head Heart Connections
Hand Head Heart Connections is a daily Eastlink broadcast from 11am-12pm on Channel 10 (or 610). It features a variety of educational content (Phys. Ed., Music/Art, EAL and Library) and “follow along at home” type activities, with little to no equipment needed. A Youtube link is now available for families who do not have Eastlink. It will be updated with the same content featured on each episode. Check it out if you get a chance!
Language 4 Vous
Language 4 Vous features EAL and FAL content for students. It includes activities for self-regulation, drawing lessons, music, and more!
Drawing Club with Mr. Sheehan
Mr. Sheehan is an island teacher who posts drawing lessons every weekday! Check it out for step-by-step instructions on how to draw all kinds of different things!

- The Reading Strategies page (also found under the Learning Resources tab) is great for supporting your child in reading. The pictures featured on the page show different prompts you can use and include examples of the three different types of comprehension questions asked to students by teachers.
- Our music teachers, Ms. White & Mrs. Waite, also created a Music blog for students.

- Book Box : Don't forget to change the language. The option to do so can be found under the Youtube video featured at the top of the webpage. There are currently 20 titles available in French.
